Heart of the Bitterroot

Voices of Salish & Pend d’Oreille Women is the creation of award-winning educator Julie Cajune, an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes.   It is a magnificently produced CD that uncovers and celebrates the untold history of four Salish women.  The stories are told in their voices through the inspired writing of tribal member Jennifer Greene.   Traditional women’s songs are played and sung by Salish & Pend d’Oreille girls and women, and sounds from the land were added.   To complete the stories, the women are celebrated and honored with music from flute, violin and piano.

The history contained in this CD is engaging and accessible to anyone of any age.   A 24 page full color booklet is included with the CD, including historic photos and giving additional information about these remarkable women.  A study guide for educators will be available in March 2008.
